The 2004 season will be remembered as one of the finest in school history. This group of young men were extremely focused, hard-working and sportsmanlike throughout the season. The team ended up with an overall record of 22-2-3 and an amazing district record of 13-0-1. The 22 wins tied a school record for most wins in a season. The team also had a 23 game unbeaten streak (21-0-2) which established a new school record. It should also be mentioned that in 27 competitive games, we did not have a single red card (to our opponent's 7) and had almost half the number of yellow cards as our opponents.

The season began with the rain-shortened Woodlands Tournament in which the team went 1-1-1 against some very good competition. The next week we began to hit our stride. A mid-week road victory over Brenham (the number one ranked 4A team in the state), was followed by a run to the championship of the Mustang Classic. Two more victories the following week over Lee and Westfield put us at 6-1-2 entering district play.

District 19-5A was without a doubt one of the toughest boy's soccer districts in the state. Elsik, Cinco Ranch, Mayde Creek and Taylor all won early season tournaments.. It seemed impossible for a team to go undeafeated in such a competitive district, but that's exactly what our Mustangs did. After winning four "one-goal" games during the first half of district, you could almost see the confidence level rise. A tie in the second game against Mayde Creek was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect season. The regular season ened with convincing 3-0 victories over Cinco Ranch and Elsik and a 5-1 blowout win against our rivals from Katy. The .964 district winning percentage was the best in school history and gave us the district title by four full games over second place Cinco Ranch. This was our fourteenth district championship in the last eighteen years!

After defeating state powerhouse Klein in a playoff warmup game. Our boys began the playoffs with a 4-0 win over Bellaire. That was followed by an emotional come from behind 3-1 victory over Fort Bend Austin in the regional quarterfinals. This advanced us to the Region III Tournament (final 16 in the state) for the fourth time in the last five years. Unfortunately, the season came to an end with a 4-2 loss to a very good Northbrook team. Although we came up a little short of our goal to reach the state tournament, it was without question a season to remember.
